This is a basic doula training for women wishing to become birth doulas. You do not need to be a nurse, a mother or have a medical background. This is the first major step in the certification process with DONA International.

The only prerequisite is that you have a basic understanding of childbirth and the physiology of how birth works. Many women obtain this through reading from the DONA reading list or from attending a childbirth class. (Many childbirth educators in the area will allow you to attend their classes for the purposes of training. Call or email individual educators for more information).

There are a limited number of scholarships available at: http://birthcarenetwork.com/scholarship.html

Birth Care Network holds two annual trainings every year. These are usually spring and fall. Upcoming Dates!
