Birth Doula Training Scholarships

Birth Care Network is excited to offer a partial scholarship(s) to our birth doula training on November 13-14, 2010.

To apply for this scholarship:

You will need to send some information to be reviewed by a committee The application you send will have your name and identifying information removed.

• Why do you want to go to the birth doula training?
• How will you use the information/skills you learn at the training?
• How do you (plan to) support BCN and/or families in the community?
• Have you previously applied for or received a BCN scholarship?
• The training cost is $270 per person as a BCN Member (Non-members $325). How much of this amount do you feel you can afford to pay at this time? ($50 minimum)

Please include a statement of financial need and a list of organizations of which you are a member (including BCN).

Note: BCN members must be in good standing, with dues up to date.

Application deadline is 10/1, scholarship notification 10/15.

What BCN will ask of the recipients:

You will be asked to help at one of the next two doula trainings (Spring 11 or Fall 11) for 8 hours total (Can be in shifts.).

Carolyn Rose Horrar Educational Scholarships

These are partial scholarships to be used by Birth Care Network members for educational ventures related to the mission of BCN. It can be used to help defray the cost of initial training as well as continuing education. Because this is not for a specific conference, it will be a rolling deadline with applications accepted year round. Notification will be sent within four weeks of receipt of the application.

The application is just a few easy questions:

• What conference do you wish to attend, who is sponsoring it, location, dates, etc.
• How does this educational experience support the BCN mission?
• How you will use the information gathered.
• How you support BCN/Families in the community.
• Statement of financial need. (How much is the conference, travel, etc.? What are you asking from the CRH Scholarship Fund?)
